Life Cycle of an Apple Lapbook

I love using lapbooks with my younger children. I find them to be a great way to have children record what they learn in a fun keepsake-style activity.

I have boxes in my basement full of my kids’ old lapbooks. I love looking back on them at the end of the year and reviewing what we learned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO COMPLETE THE ACTIVITY

ASSEMBLING THE LAPBOOK

Open the file folder. Fold each side in half so that the edges meet in the center of the folder.

Color and cut out the cover pieces – the “this lapbook belongs to…” sign and the apple picture. Glue them to the lapbook cover.

You can model the cover in the pictures here, or you can have your kids glue them wherever they’d like.

Now, open the lapbook. On the left-hand flap, we’ll glue the “parts of an apple” label.

Under that label, have your children glue the apple core and then label it correctly. They can cut/paste the labels or write them by hand.

Next, assemble the Apple Facts mini-book according to the instruction page. Glue the assembled mini-book at the bottom of the left flap.

On the center flap, let’s work from top to bottom. At the top of the center flap, glue the “life cycle” sign.

Then, assemble the life cycle accordion book. Glue the top of that book under the sign leaving the book able to fold/unfold.

Next, on the left-hand side of the center flap, assemble and glue down the “what plants need to grow” booklet.

Finally, assemble and attach the life cycle of an apple spinner.

Now, let’s finish the lapbook with the activities meant for the right flap. At the top, have kids assemble and attach the apple recipes flip book.

Finally, cut out the “vocabulary words” box. Cut the lines with the word “cut” beside them. Fold on the dotted lines, and glue the flaps to the lapbook. Cut out the vocabulary words and put the in the pocket you just created.
