Halloween Activities for 2nd Graders
Halloween is a fun time for kids of all ages, but it can be especially exciting for second graders. They’re old enough to enjoy the spooky holiday without being too scared, and they can still participate in many of the fun activities that come with it.
Here are some great Halloween activities for second graders:
• Trick-or-treating is a classic Halloween activity that most second graders love. If you live in a safe neighborhood, let your child go out with some friends or family members to collect candy. Just be sure to check the candy before letting them eat it!
• Another fun activity second graders can do is decorate their own pumpkins. Give them some paint, markers, and other craft supplies, and let them go to town! You can even turn it into a contest and award prizes for the best-looking pumpkin.
• If your child is into costumes, they’ll probably want to dress up for Halloween. Help them pick out a great costume, and then take some pictures of them in their outfit. You can even make a scrapbook of all their Halloween pictures from over the years.
• Finally, Halloween wouldn’t be complete without some tasty treats! Let your child help you make cookies or cupcakes decorated like ghosts, witches, or monsters. They’ll have so much fun eating their creations that they’ll want to do it again next year!

Halloween Books for 2nd Graders
It's that time of year again! Halloween is just around the corner, and that means it's time to start thinking about costumes, candy, and, of course, spooky stories.
If you're looking for some great Halloween books for your second grader, here are a few to consider.
It’s Halloween, and you know what that means! Candy! Costumes! More candy! What would happen if a kid ate a million hundred pounds of chocolate in one night?
One thing’s for sure—when the kids from Ella Mentry School go trick-or-treating, it will be a Halloween to remember.
Lulu the witch girl is a little nervous about her first day of school, but she heads off with her broom and Dracula lunch box.
She immediately loves her new teacher, Miss Slime, especially her wart. Lulu’s first flying lesson around the cemetery goes great!
It’s Halloween! But Junie B. is afraid to go trick-or-treating.
’Cause what if witches and monsters are really real? And what if pumpkins with sharp teeth can eat your feet? And don’t even get her started on the candy corn problem.
So how is Junie B. supposed to enjoy this scary holiday?
It's Halloween in the 13th Classroom-what could go wrong? Well, for starters, all of the students could magically turn into their COSTUMES!
You might think this was hilarious, but it was horrible. With tricky transformations come wild werewolves, voracious vampires, zany zombies, and other moody monsters.
As the students of Classroom 13 are about to learn, Halloween's treats are sometimes tricks.
It’s Amelia Bedelia’s new friend Candy’s first Halloween since coming to Oak Tree Elementary.
But when Amelia Bedelia tells her new friend how spooktacular it will be—decorations on almost every house and store, the costume parade, the pumpkin carving contest—Candy seems unimpressed.
Then Amelia Bedelia tells her about the Haunted Hayride at Seven Gables Farms, and Candy is convinced.
But what happens when the Haunted Hayride is cancelled? Will Amelia Bedelia come up with a plan to save Halloween for her friends old and new?
Horrible Harry and his classmates all love Halloween. Everyone wears a costume to school-even Miss Mackle.
Every Halloween Harry shocks his classmates with his scary costume.
In kindergarten he was a bloody Count Dracula, in first grade he was the Loch Ness Monster, and in second grade he was a slithering snake.
So everyone in Room 3B can't wait to see what Harry is going to be this year-and they're in for a really big surprise!
Is there a real Headless Horseman haunting Sleepy Hollow? Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose will sleep in a cabin, take a haunted hayride, and go to a party near an old graveyard.
But strange things start happening that don’t seem to be part of the spooky fun. Has the famous ghost story come to life?
It is Halloween night, and all the kids are dressed up to go trick-or-treating. But Nate's friend Rosamond needs his help.
Her cat Little Hex is missing. Is he hiding, or is he lost? Nate and his trusty dog, Sludge, are on the case!
Henry Hooper is a little nervous about going to his friend Artie Doomsday's house on top of Hallows Hill.
Everybody calls the hill HAUNTED Hill, and when Henry meets Artie's sister Wanda and Granny Doomsday, he starts to wonder if the Doomsday household is haunted, too.
Especially when Granny starts cooking up a big pot of bat bones and spider stew! Is this some kind of crazy Halloween prank, or is the Doomsday family for real?
There’s a ghost in Green Lawn! Strange sounds and even stranger sights are terrifying guests at the Shangri-la Hotel.
More and more people are being scared away. Will Green Lawn turn into a ghost town? Or can Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose stop this spook?
