Spring has sprung! Many of us are beginning to add spring themes to your homeschool lesson plans.

One of my favorite spring themes is frogs. If you intend to teach frogs this spring, be sure to leave time in your lessons to create this simple frog life cycle craft.

This life cycle activity is a great way for children to visualize how frogs grow from a tiny egg to an adult.

This science activity is best for kids who are proficient with scissors. However, if you cut out the frog pieces for your younger kiddos, they can complete this craft alongside their older siblings.

All you need to complete this craft is some paper, scissors, and glue. Then, you’re good to go!

Give your kids a chance to demonstrate the life cycle of a frog with this fun craft.

Download the template below, assemble the life cycle craft, and have kids retell what they know over and over again.

Frog Life Cycle Cut and Paste

This fun life cycle craft can be added to many of your springtime lesson plans. It works will in your frog unit, of course. But, it also works in your pond theme, your life cycle theme, and even your Letter Ff theme.

How to Make a Model of the Life Cycle of a Frog

To get started on this craft, download the frog craft template, print it out, and cut out the pieces you need.

This template includes a color version and a black/white version. If you choose the black/white version, have your child color the pieces before cutting them out.

Cut a piece of green construction paper into a 6″ x 12″ rectangle. Fold it in half lengthwise (matching short sides). Then, fold each half in half again the opposite direction to create a four-part accordion fold.

Glue the life cycle cards in order leaving a little space at the top and bottom to glue this strip to the frog.

Glue the frog’s head to the top of the life cycle strip. Then, fold it toward the back of the strip so the life cycle cards don’t show.

Next, glue the back legs behind the frog’s body. One on either side. Then, glue the front legs on either side of the belly.

Finally, glue the frog’s body to the bottom of the life cycle strip.

Kids can fold it up accordion style to see a cute frog craft. Then, unfold it to reveal the life cycle sequence.

Once the glue has dried, children can trace the labels on each part of the sequencing strip as they retell the stages of the life cycle of a frog.
