Activities in which kids label objects (or parts of objects) are great for building their vocabulary. You can use this labeling worksheet to introduce new vocabulary words (such as dorsal or pectoral), or you can use them to reinforce words you’ve already introduced.

You can also use these types of activities to help little ones become familiar with the written words.

When you provide your children with cut and paste worksheets, you provide them with an opportunity to practice their scissor skills.

Putting labels in the correct boxes is a good way to develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Who knew one simple worksheet could provide so many benefits?

VARIATIONS

It’s really easy to make this a reusable activity. Laminate the page, and cut the bottom strip off (the part with the label boxes).

Now, put a velcro dot on each blank box as well as on the back of each label. Kids can stick the labels on the diagram, and take them off again.

BOOKS ABOUT Sharks

There are many shark books for kids that teach them about these creatures of the sea. Sharks are often portrayed as ruthless killers, but these books help children learn about the important role sharks play in the ocean’s ecosystem.

Shark books can also teach children about the different types of sharks and their habits.
