Christmas Cut and Paste Activities

Not only will these printable scissor skills worksheets help children with important literacy skills, but they are also a great way to have kids work on strengthening fine motor skills.

Writing, cutting, and pasting all help develop the small muscles in your child’s hands and fingers.

What’s in this pack?

This digital download includes twelve pages featuring the words Santa, reindeer, candy, present, wreath, and more!

What else is needed?

  • printer paper
  • crayons
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • glue

Completing the Activity

To complete the Christmas printables, young learners will identify the picture at the top of the page. They can color the picture if they’d like.

Next, they’ll trace the word. Encourage them to say each letter aloud as they trace it. Speaking and hearing the spelling can help lock it in your child’s memory.

Then, your child will write the word on the line. If you’d like to test their spelling skills, have them cover the traced word before spelling it from memory.

Finally, have your child cut out the letters at the bottom of the worksheet. Have them arrange the letters to spell the featured word.

Then, they will glue the letters in order in the boxes to correctly spell each word.

If you want to make this free Christmas cut-and-paste activity reusable, laminate the page after printing it. Children can complete the writing portion with dry-erase markers.

You can put velcro dots in the boxes and on the back of each letter, or your kids can just write the word again in the boxes.

Why include cut and paste activities?

Cutting printables provide kindergarten students with an opportunity to strengthen fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

First, when you provide your child with a pair of child-sized scissors made for them, you can teach them how to properly hold their scissors.

Next, you can teach them how to hold the scissors in one hand and the paper in the other.
