]]> Spring and summer are the best time of year to study butterflies. This printable features nine life cycle of a butterfly activities for early learners.

If you plan to study butterflies during the spring or summer months, you’ll love this activity pack! Students will enjoy a mixture of life cycle worksheets and activities designed for kids ages 4-7.

Life Cycle of a Butterfly

The activities featured in this printable pack are perfect for not only spring and summer but also for your general insect-themed unit study activities.

Below, you’ll find books, printables, and more all featuring butterflies. While I haven’t focused on it here, you can use this as an opportunity to discuss insects of all kinds.

These butterfly life cycle activities are perfect for kids in grades Prek-1. They’re perfect for both home and classroom use so homeschool co-ops can use these ideas, as well.

Life Cycle of a Butterfly

There are a quite a few activities in this pack that focus directly on the life cycle of a butterfly.

The first page is a diagram of the life cycle that can be used as a teaching and/or reference page. It features images and vocabulary words.

The second page features images of each stage and writing lines. This is perfect for assessing your child’s knowledge.

The third life cycle activity is actually a paper craft. Kids will color a butterfly, cut it out, and fold it to create a sequencing craft they can use to retell others about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Finally, children will cut and paste sequencing pictures onto the correct circle on a butterfly picture.

Butterfly Activities

There are also some general butterfly activities. First, kids will draw dots on the butterflies to illustrate and solve addition problems.

Artistic kids will enjoy the butterfly symmetry page. They’ll use the grid to complete the picture of a butterfly.

On the tracing page, kids can trace the dotted lines before coloring the picture of the butterfly.

Finally, kids will follow the color code to complete the butterfly color by number.
